Samantha Vosloo, Executive Director of Palm Garden of Largo, was recently honored as the 2021 Nursing Home Administrator of the Year by the Florida Health Care Association (FHCA). The award, presented in front of more than 600 long term care professionals during FHCA’s 2021 Annual Conference in Orlando, is the highest honor given to a nursing home administrator in Florida’s long term care profession.
“Samantha is known for serving her residents and team members with tireless dedication. She is a role model for other nursing home administrators across the state, and we’re proud to honor her with this distinguished award,” said Emmett Reed, Florida Health Care Association Chief Executive Officer.
For 7 years, Vosloo has demonstrated a proven track record of success that includes deficiency free surveys and earning the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) National Quality Awards at two of the centers she has managed. She has also led her facility to earn a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Five Star status and a local “Best of” award. Vosloo is always looking at innovative ways to implement person-centered care, having recently developed a dementia care program that engages residents using a Montessori approach. She also developed a life enrichment program for short term patients and built partnerships with local schools to create an intergenerational activity program that connects residents with children, helping to improve residents’ mental health and giving young adults a better understanding of aging.
Vosloo also serves as an AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Examiner which involves giving her time and expertise to support other long-term care organizations with implementing the Baldridge process to improve their systems for delivering quality care. She’s also an active member of FHCA’s Survey and Regulatory, Performance Excellence and Workforce Committees and is a 2020 graduate of FHCA’s Florida Leaders program.
“We are so proud of Samantha and the steady leadership that she brings to the Palm Garden family,” said Rob Greene, CEO of Palm Garden Healthcare. “She is a true reflection of performance excellence, a passionate administrator and a leader with a heart for celebrating the life stories of our treasured elders. Samantha is Palm Garden”
