Florida Health Care Association recently awarded $2,950 in scholarships to caregivers striving toward furthering their careers in the long term care field. Five caregivers achieved the Bruce Taylor Scholarship, which assists the best and brightest among our members’ nursing staff to achieve a higher level of education in a field related to long term care nursing. FHCA is delighted to present the most recent recipients of these awards:
Beth Alves is currently employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Flagler Health and Rehabilitation in Bunnell, Florida. She is pursuing her degree in nursing and licensure through Excelsior College. Beth aspires to become a RN unit manager within her facility after earning her degree.
Jacqueline Bowman, an LPN from Consulate Healthcare of St. Petersburg, is working toward her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse and completing her associates degree in science at Galen College. She has a long-term goal of achieving a master’s degree and becoming an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to better help and advocate for her patients.
Ana Cruz is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Tampa. Her long-term goal is to become an RN to be able to better care for her patients. She hopes to spread knowledge and help her colleagues who share her career ambitions.
Brodderick Brady is a CNA at Palm Garden of Gainesville. He is actively working toward his long-time goal of becoming a Registered Nurse in an ER or trauma setting. He is determined to finish nursing school so he can help heal patients.
Djanika Sylvail, an LPN at the Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park is currently enrolled in Valencia College’s nursing program. She hopes to become a nurse practitioner specializing in geriatrics in the future. Djanika has a passion for working with her patients.
These scholarships are awarded to FHCA member center employees through the Florida Health Care Education and Development Foundation, the 501c3 organization of the Florida Health Care Association.
