The Bristol Pays Tribute to Resident Veteran in Photo Contest
The Bristol at Tampa Rehabilitation Nursing and Rehabilitation Center earned the Grand Prize in the Florida Health Care Association’s (FHCA) 2019 Long Term Care’s photo contest with the photo, “93 Years Young and Army Strong.” The photo, which earned nearly 1,900 votes in a public Facebook contest, pays tribute to Ms. Rudy, who served as a Lieutenant in the military for 26 years, and has been a resident at The Bristol for four years. Ms. Rudy is seated in front of the flag that hangs proudly at the Bristol Center, as they pay tribute to those who have served our country.
This photo exemplifies the caring community at the Bristol at Tampa, and was taken by their director of business development, Vincenza Shihada Hamad. For submitting the winning photo, the center will receive a $500 award to be put toward activities for the Bristol’s residents.
“Ms. Rudy often enjoys sharing stories about her military service,” said Vincenza Shihada, the center’s director of business development, who snapped the image. “For this photo, The Bristol team found Ms. Rudy an Army uniform at a local Army/Navy surplus store, and when she put it on she lit up like the sun. You couldn’t miss the pride and excitement on her face.”
For submitting the winning photo, the center will receive a $500 award to be put toward activities for the Bristol’s residents and will honor Ms. Rudy during the celebration
“Nursing centers across Florida are enriching the lives of their residents with meaningful activities and opportunities to celebrate,” said Emmett Reed, FHCA Executive Director. “This photo captures the spirit of our residents and the importance of our commitment to delivering the best possible care, and we’re proud to recognize the Bristol as this year’s winner.”
The Long Term Care photo contest is open annually to submissions from those who are residents, employees, or volunteers of a FHCA member care center or who work with an FHCA business partner. Nearly 200 photos were submitted for the 2019 contest, and thousands of votes were cast on Facebook. Brynwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello earned second place with its photo, “Angel Nurse”; Lake Placid Rehabilitation Center took third place with “Oh Hello;” and an honorable mention was awarded to DeSoto Health and Rehabilitation in Acadia for its photo, “Peace at the River”.
The winning photos will be displayed during FHCA’s 2019 Annual Conference & Trade Show, August 4-8 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Read more about this year’s Long Term Care Photo Contest, winners and view all the entries by clicking here.
