Florida Health Care Association is pleased to award RN Instructor Corie Caso-Diaz with a Bruce Taylor Scholarship. Corie is the staff educator at Flagler Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bunnell where she oversees clinical trainings for the center’s nursing team.
Corie made a promise to herself years ago that she would finish her schooling and obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. As often happens, life got in the way in the form of raising children, both her and her husband working full time and staying active in their community. With her husband now semi-retired and just one of her four children still at home, Corie feels no is the right time to pursue her long-term educational goals.
As a self-starter and someone who always sees the glass half full, Corie has always succeeded in life by treating others as she would like to be treated. After learning of her scholarship award, Corie shared her appreciation and stressed that is committed to the residents at Flagler Health and Rehab and looks forward to many more years with the committee.
Flagler administrator Norma Alvarez had nothing but positive things to say about Corie. “There is no doubt in my mind that [she] will be able to be a positive role model to the nursing department with her additional qualifications.”
FHCA’s Bruce Taylor Scholarship is funded through the Association’s 501c3 Education and Development Foundation. The program assists the best and brightest among FHCA member nursing staff to achieve a higher level of education in a field related to long term care nursing.
Bruce Taylor Scholarships are awarded three times per year and promote advancement in non-nursing long term care careers for selected member nursing home and assisted living facility employees.
The next deadline to apply for the Bruce Taylor Scholarship is April 30, 2019. Click here to learn more about educational scholarship opportunities.
