Since 2007, Loretta Root has worked at Ruleme Center. She began her career as a housekeeper and developed deep connections with the residents, often witnessing small acts of kindness and compassion.
Those experiences and an opportunity to transfer into the Activities Department helped Loretta find her true passion. She earned her Activity Director certification and as the leader of the department, Loretta loves being part of the residents’ lives every day. Even when the impact seems small, Loretta knows that to a resident, it can mean everything.
Working nearly 20 years at Ruleme Center has also given Loretta a unique perspective and appreciation for how all the departments collaborate in caring for residents.
In reflecting on her career, Loretta shared that “long term care requires heart, empathy, compassion, patience and dedication.” To Loretta, it’s not just a job, it’s a calling, and one of the most meaningful career paths one can choose.
