This National Nurses Week, May 6 through May 12, the Florida Health Care Association is recognizing nurses who have significantly impacted the long term care field through their hard work. We recognize our own nurse, Kim Broom, for all the amazing things she does. Kim has been a Registered Nurse for 37 years with 24 years in long term care as a Director of Nursing, Regional Nurse Consultant, and other roles. She is a risk manager and, for six years, was the administrator of a 68-bed assisted living center with an Extended Congregate Care license. She came to the Florida Health Care Association in May of 2017 and is the liaison to the Senior Clinicians Council, Risk Compliance Council, Infection Prevention Council, and the Florida Center for Assisted Living (FCAL) Committee.
In her role as Director of Clinical & Risk Management, Kim offers several forums to connect long term care nurses. She provides education, develops skills within nurses, and hosts risk and clinically focused training courses to guide members through ways to support resident care. In addition to these involvements, Kim is actively involved in FHCA’s Executive Nurse Leadership Academy, which is designed to support and enhance the knowledge of the registered nurse executive. Applications are now being accepted for the ENLA Class of 2026, and more information about the program can be found here.
Thank you, Kim, for being an amazing team member and nurse in long term care!
