Island Lake Center in earned Second Place in FHCA’s 2023 Long Term Care Photo Contest. The winning photo, “Bubbles to Take Away the Troubles,” was taken by Morgan Hughes, the center’s Recreation Director, and features Island Lake Center resident Damilia.
Morgan has worked as Island Lake’s Recreation Director for 18 months and has served in healthcare for five years. Morgan shared that she is grateful for the opportunity every day to make the residents smile, laugh or dance. “Making my residents happy is my motivation,” Morgan said.
Morgan noticed Damilia wearing a beautiful red dress one day and thought to herself, “she looks beautiful and too stunning not to photograph,” so they did a photo shoot inside the center’s courtyard. Damilia enjoyed the experience very much. “Her face lit up, she was smiling, laughing and blushing,” said Morgan.
Both Morgan and Damilia were ecstatic with the amount of support and kind comments that were received through this competition. “Damilia was overwhelmed with joy and thanks everyone for their love and support,” Morgan added
FHCA made a $300 contribution to the Island Lake Center to contribute toward staff and resident activities. Morgan (pictured right) will also receive a $50 Visa gift card for capturing this image.
FHCA’s Long Term Care Photo Contest is open annually to those who live, work, or volunteer in an FHCA member care center or those who work with an FHCA business partner. Nearly 100 photos were entered into this year’s contest, which focused on the theme “The Faces of Care” to recognize the residents, families, staff and volunteers for the positive impact they make on quality care and quality of life.
The winning photos will be displayed during FHCA’s 2023 Annual Conference & Trade Show, July 23-27 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. Read more about this year’s Long Term Care Photo Contest, winners and view all the entries by clicking here.
