Meet Denise Baultrip-Cuyjet with Gateway Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center
In 1994, Denise Baultrip-Cuyjet earned her degree in Sociology and Psychology, and she began her career as a social worker caring for at-risk elders in a nursing center. “This was the best training because you were always be prepared for anything,” said Denise. Her commitment to the long term care community took her to Gateway Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center in Pinellas Park, where today she serves as their Social Services Director.
Denise displays her care in quality of service on an everyday basis. “I listen to the residents, and I am always willing to hear them out and try to make it better. I love making a positive difference no matter how small or large,” she says.
Denise finds that her role allows her to be an advocate for her residents and to educate others. She works for the best interest of those in her care, even when reasoning seems unclear to those not involved. “Be empathetic and never lose your integrity,” Denise reminds others. “There will be a time when you need someone to take care of you.”
Early in her career Denise joined the Florida Health Care Social Worker’s Association and eventually became as the organization’s president. She remains active in the Florida Health Care Association today and often shares her knowledge and experience with those considering a career in this profession.
