Latarius Allen, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Brynwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in Monticello, recently earned a Career Climb Scholarship from the Florida Health Care Education and Development Foundation.
As a driven CNA who has worked in long term care since 2016, Latarius hopes to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Her ultimate goal is to earn a Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy. In her scholarship application, she shared how she looks forward to continuing to give back to health care and improving the lives of her residents on a daily basis.
“Ms. Allen has truly been amazing in her role as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She exceeds my expectations, and more importantly, she exceeds the resident goals and needs. She is the type of individual that leads by example,” said Rhod Fenelus, administrator at Brynwood Health & Rehab Center.
In Latarius’ effort to grow within the long term care community, the Florida Health Care Education and Development Foundation (Foundation) has aided her in reaching her goals. Established through an initial grant from the Life Care Centers of America with ongoing support from FHCA’s annual Golf Tournament, the Career Climb Scholarship program promotes advancement in non-nursing long term care careers for FHCA member nursing center and assisted living facility employees.
The next deadline to apply for scholarships through the Foundation is August 30, 2018. Click here to learn more about the Career Climb Scholarship and other opportunities.
