Forty-three long term care centers that are members of the Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) have earned national recognition for their commitment to improving the lives of residents through quality care. The recognition is part of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which spotlights providers across the nation that have demonstrated their dedication to improving quality of care for residents and patients in long term and post-acute care. Thirty FHCA members have earned the 2020 Bronze- Commitment to Quality Award, while 13 members have earned 2020 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award.
“Florida’s long term caregivers have been heroes on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic, working tirelessly to keep residents safe while meeting their critical care needs. This achievement by our member centers exemplifies their ongoing commitment to ensuring Florida’s frail elders receive exceptional care every day, no matter what challenges they’re facing, and we’re proud to honor them” said Emmett Reed, FHCA Executive Director.

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Providers begin the quality improvement process at the Bronze level, where they assess their organization’s mission, vision, and key factors that lead to success. They also develop an organizational profile and must demonstrate their ability to implement a performance improvement system. At the Silver level, members develop and demonstrate effective approaches that help improve organizational performance and health care outcomes. Trained examiners review each application to determine if the center has met the demands of each award criteria.
