Venetia Croy has been known by many as the welcoming voice and face for callers and visitors to Florida Health Care Association. After more than 26 years, Venetia’s service will come to an end as she retires from the association and prepares for the next chapter in her life.
Venetia joined FHCA in 1992, eager to learn and with a determination to succeed. She was hired as the receptionist, but as in most positions at FHCA and the association world in general, there is always that line in the job description that reads…“and other duties as assigned.” Venetia’s position continuously evolved to more than just answering the phone and delivering the mail. As the office assistant, she interacted with the vendors and contractors who help maintain the FHCA headquarters. She also served as the liaison to the tenants of FHCA’s building.
What Venetia has always been known for best is her interaction with the members. She knows many of them by their voice and is always quick to respond to their needs.
“Venetia has been a pleasure to work with and I always appreciated her particular attention to serving our membership so well,” said Emmett Reed, FHCA Executive Director. “My hope is that she’ll have an incredible retirement. I know I speak for all of us when I say ‘V’ will truly be missed.”
Venetia penned a heartfelt letter of goodbye to all the members:
Dear Members,
After 26 years of being the voice of Florida Health Care Association, I am retiring April 30th. I’ve decided it is time for a new chapter in my life to begin. I want my old friends, and new, to know how much I have enjoyed speaking with you all over the years. It has been my pleasure to assist and guide you with the many issues the industry throws your way. I’ve seen so many changes in the industry through the years and I know it’s not an easy job. I have the upmost respect for the job you do protecting our vulnerable elderly.
Good bye and keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Venetia Croy
