Life Care Center of Orange Park has been awarded the Third Place prize in FHCA’s 2022 Long Term Care Photo Contest. The photo was taken by Life Care’s Activity Director Robin Dake, who has been with the center for almost three years. Dake captured the image during the center’s 2021 National Skilled Nursing Care Week, during which the team celebrated by dressing up in a different theme each day. Themes included superheroes, wacky & tacky, Hawaiian luau, tubular 80s, and a fabulous 50s party, with music, fun games, and great food for each day throughout the week.
The week’s activities capped off with a Fifties Friday, during which the staff and residents wore 1950s costumes complete with monogrammed sweaters, scarves in their hair, cat glasses, and poodle skirts. They enjoyed dancing and singing to the live music during an outdoor sock hop event when they danced away their COVID blues. It was the perfect way to celebrate making it through a tough year.
Dake has worked in healthcare for 22 years. “Working with the elderly is my passion and what I feel I was meant to do,” said Dake. She loves to make the residents smile and bring happiness and meaning to their lives each day.
“It was a perfect moment,” Dake continued. “The song, The Twist, was playing and no one could sit still! Everyone was smiling, singing, clapping, and dancing in their seats. Several staff members and residents were dancing together. It was one of those moments when your heart was just so full of love and happiness and so was theirs. I wanted to capture that special moment in time. This picture brings back those wonderful feelings and memories of that day.”
FHCA rewarded Life Care Center of Orange Park with $300 to contribute toward staff and resident activities. Dake will receive a $50 Visa gift card for capturing this image.
FHCA’s Long Term Care Photo Contest is open annually to those who live, work, or volunteer in an FHCA member care center or those who work with an FHCA business partner. Nearly 100 photos were entered into this year’s contest, which focused on the theme “Better Together” and the importance of being together with residents, families, staff and volunteers and the positive impact it makes on quality care and quality of life.
The winning photos will be displayed during FHCA’s 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show, July 31-August 4 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Read more about this year’s Long Term Care Photo Contest, winners and view all the entries by clicking here.
