What are you doing for yourself and others every day? What makes you happy? How are you contributing to your happiness and the happiness of others? Every day, skilled nursing centers assist our seniors and people with disabilities in living their happiest and best lives. That is why Florida Health Care Association and our members are excited that the theme of this year’s National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, taking place from May 12 to 18, is “Live Soulfully.”
The theme “Live Soulfully” will celebrate skilled nursing centers, and their residents and staff, by showcasing how they achieve happy minds and healthy souls. Whether it’s planting, cooking, reading or listening to music, these centers pay it forward by helping individuals find happiness to improve quality of life. Centers will be encouraged to participate by hosting activities that display how they “Live Soulfully” and share their stories and experiences on social media.
FHCA’s members take pride in helping their residents achieve happiness every day. Just look at one of the many submissions from our annual Long Term Care Photo Contest, where you’ll find photographs capturing the daily life, activities and loving care between residents, families and staff. You’ll see residents dancing, fishing, enjoying holiday parties, playing instruments, going to ballgames and experiencing other outdoor adventures.
This year’s annual NSNCW observance recognizes the role of skilled nursing centers in caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Each person in the long term care community contributes to improving the quality of life of all residents by providing a home away from home that allows them to Live Soulfully. Take time during this National Skilled Care Nursing Week to learn about our members’ amazing residents and the caregivers who are making a difference in their lives.
